My recommendations for workshop locations in Upper Bavaria 2026
Online meeting efficiency and cost pressure or not: since the end of the coronavirus pandemic at the latest, the desire for face-to-face meetings in companies has noticeably increased again. Especially when it comes to important events such as the two-day executive workshop on AI strategy or the full-day seminar on resilience strategy for managers.
But where should this take place?
The modern building template really doesn't suit me at all.
The company's own meeting room is usually furnished in a functional and sober manner and in the vast majority of cases offers little space for creative work, inspiring breakout sessions and intensive brainstorming. It is not called for nothing Meetingspace. What's more, the potential distraction of everyday company life just around the corner is very high. Of course, all of this clashes with the strategic creative character of such off-sites.

That's when the normal meeting room says: Sorry, not my business 😉
Can you recommend a special location for our strategy workshop?
I get asked this question all the time. Just a few days ago in preparation for a two-day workshop with managers from all over Europe in spring 2026.
Instead of sending the usual email or PDF with recommendations, I'm taking this as an opportunity to share with you my five (plus one insider tip) personal favorites for 2026 for workshop locations and seminar rooms in the greater Munich and Upper Bavaria area.
Of course the list is very subjective and has no claim to completeness or is even to be misunderstood as a „seal of quality“, please refer to the following info box.
My subjective criteria
All locations have been selected according to my personal and therefore of course very subjective criteria. The list does not claim to be complete or up to date, even if I update it from time to time (last update see date of blog post).
Important for me in the selection were
- Enough creative space for about 10-20 leaders (this is the typical group size I work with in most cases).
- Inspiring ambience, ideally in a combination of appealing (interior) architecture and beautiful surroundings.
- Good food and nice service, as we all know, the way to the heart is through the stomach
- Good accommodation is available or in the immediate vicinity.
- No mass processing á la chain hotel industry
PS, perhaps also important to know: I do not have any arrangements with any of the locations (often companies get better conditions than I do) and do not receive any commissions or similar.
My personal favorites of the workshop locations and seminar rooms in Upper Bavaria 2026
And here it is, the list of my top locations, sorted alphabetically.
Bussi Baby, Rottach-Egern (Tegernsee)
Well, with a name like that, a little Tegernsee glamor is certainly intentional, at the latest at the rendezvous at the rooftop bar 😎
Chateauform Seminar House Starnberger See, Feldafing
The first Chateauform house in Bavaria, which opened in November 2025, is home to one of my current favorite rooms, the Meraki room on the second floor, see cover picture above 😍

Sonnenhausen Estate, Glonn
Sonnenhausen is the home of Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten, so good food is guaranteed. And inspiration wherever you look, great location 🤩
Klostermaier Hotel, Icking
A long gastronomic tradition with regional cuisine and good workshop space 👍🏻
Seespitz Guest House, Herrsching (Ammersee)
This view of Lake Ammersee can send your thoughts flying ⛵
And an insider tip, as promised!
The last location on my list is a little out of the ordinary and perhaps not suitable for everyone. But it is certainly something for people who are open to being inspired by unusual places...
Mörlbach Castle, Icking
Anyone who names their room after Pink Floyd or Ayrton Senna is probably a very special person themselves 🙏🏻 My insider tip!
THE READING TIP
One of the most common mistakes managers make is to manage the business but not themselves.
- Coping with stress,
- the cultivation of individual needs and goals,
- your own physical and mental health,
- the personal work-life balance
