Combining sustainability, management ethics and community fun - is that possible?

Founding a company at the age of over 50 and wanting to save the world at the same time: I wanted to find out how this can work from the founder of the Planeed app, Dr. Aly Sabri, and invited him to a talk in the garden.

„In Grenzgänge, people turn their visions into reality! Doing something that you are absolutely convinced will succeed - even if others say it's impossible. These ideas become reality and are realized through the intensity with which you believe in them.“

Who is the man behind this vision?

Dr. Aly Sabri has always been fascinated by the idea of going off the beaten track. So he went from his native Munich and his beloved mountains to Oxford and Harvard to study medicine. During his studies, he also founded his first company „Sabri Systems“. He turned it into the world market leader and sold it in 2000 to pursue new paths and visions again.

In the years that followed, Aly Sabri was involved in several start-ups, dealt intensively with modern brain research and coached competitive athletes to optimize their motor learning.

Here you can find out more about Aly's exciting life story:

Now - in 2022 - he is launching the Planeed app together with Bernhard Liebl. A social platform that helps people turn their vision of a sustainable world into reality.

At the end of his planned career, Aly intends to develop and launch something that will have a real impact and leave the world and people with something truly special.

As the climate and sustainability have always been close to his heart, it was almost a matter of course that the time had come for the Planeed app.

What is behind this vision and how did he realize it?

The idea was to do something for the environment, to do better. Not just to act on a small scale, but to set a footprint that could perhaps be scalable for the whole world.

Often people simply don't have an idea of what they can do or feel that they can't achieve any effect on their own - so it doesn't make sense. In addition, there is often a lack of direct confirmation.

It is precisely this „gap“ that Planeed wants to close with its focus on sustainability. Aly and his team want to create a platform that motivates individuals to take action for the environment and gives them feedback on their sustainable actions.

A forum that brings people and companies together as a community to exchange ideas, contribute ideas and develop them further. A space in which the most diverse ideas on sustainability can grow - without editorial suggestions or control by the Planeed team.

Responsible management for the value creation of the future

We must also consider what we can influence as a company and leave behind as a footprint as value creation. This gives rise to a responsibility that companies have to take on accordingly; it is not just pure monetization and growth that come first, but actually sustainability: How long can I do it the way I am currently doing it?

The basis is that everyone tries to make the world we live in a little better with what they do.

From Aly Sabri's point of view, few still have this approach today. The goals are still mainly to satisfy shareholders, meet figures and perhaps create or preserve jobs.

Every company wants to grow and earn more next year than the year before. But this is exactly what needs to be questioned: is it the only task to generate profit or is my task also to focus more on people's satisfaction?

Aly answers these and other questions in the following video:
